“I'm truly amazed at the energy I feel after drinking Penta. It gives me the perfect boost during training and while racing. Any athlete should really try this water."
Craig Walton has been a fierce competitor in the Triathlon world for more than 7 years. He’s does one of the fastest swim/bide combinations in the men’s field and is a tireless competitor who goes out hard at the start and gives a heroic, dazzling effort all the way to the finish.
‘Walto’, as he’s affectionately called, also has got numerous World Cup feathers in his cap including the recent 2002 Tiszaujvarous ITU World Cup (July28th) in Hungary where he came in a tireless first in the men’s division with a time of 1:45:03. He also won the 1998 Tiszaujvarous ITU and placed 1st in all three consecutive ITU World Cup Corner Brook races (1998, 1999 and 2000). In 1998 he also placed 2nd in the Sydney World Cup and 3rd in the Auckland World Cup. 2001 was an excellent year for Walton. He placed 2nd in the Interwoven San Jose International Triathlon (24 Jun 2001), 2nd in the Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon (10 Jun 2001), 2nd in the Wildflower Half-Ironman ( 5 May 2001), and 3rd in the Ironman-California (19 May 2001). In January 2002, Walton placed 1st in the Pucon Half-Ironman. One of his proudest moments was winning 1st place in the 1997 Noosa Triathlon where he broke the course record by 2 minutes.
Craig has tasted success in several World Championships including the 1995 Cancun, Mexico (2nd place, junior), the 2000 Perth, Australia World Championships (3rd Place) effectively sealing his place on the three man Australian Olympic Team for Sydney 2000.
And most recently, Craig won the (20th anniversary) 2003 San Diego International Triathlon. After putting in a 6 hr training session the day prior to the race, he was quite happy with his first place result. After exiting the water with his closest rivals, he was able to pull away on the bike portion of the race and never look back -- winning by 2 min over the second place finisher in a time of 1hr 26 min and 54 sec. Quite an accomplishment!
The Australian-born Walton who makes his home on the Gold Coast was always drawn to water. Prior to his professional Triathlete career, it’s no surprise that he was a swimmer and lifeguard. He still watches surf movies with his fiancé when he has a chance. Back to Penta People Index |
