“I am a professional athlete. I need to take care of my body to perform well NOW. But I am also someone who knows that being healthy is a lifelong process. I know the importance of putting the right things into my body, and it is part of my job to continue to learn about what they are. I have found Penta Water to be one of those things. It is pure, easy to drink, and keeps me hydrated better than any other."
Jessi loves to do it all! She always has. As a professional athlete, Jessi knows how committed she must be. However she’s also learned that to keep focused, life has to be balanced and fun! Jessi makes it a point to make the most of the incredible journey she is on. She has a busy schedule which incorporates training, travel to races, and working part-time for Elite Racing—Running race management and marketing. It’s a combination that seems to be working for her as she continues to make big strides up to the top of the ranks in triathlon. But it also means she has to pay special attention to rest and recovery. Hydration is key, and Penta has made a noticeable difference!
A New Jersey native, Jessi started competitive swimming at age 6. She went to The George Washington University on a swimming scholarship and was captain of the varsity team. In 1997, foreseeing the end of her college swimming career the next year, she decided to give triathlon a shot, and did her first triathlon that summer. The rest was history. She graduated with in May of 1998 and by September had moved to San Diego. In 1999 Jessi won a silver medal as an amateur in the ITU Triathlon World Championships. In 2000 she made the leap to the professional ranks. That season she finished in the Top 3 in 5 of her first 6 professional races and was the US sprint-distance champion. That was only the beginning!
In 2001 Jessi broke through on the international circuit with a win at the St. Kitts International Triathlon—known to have the toughest bike course on the ITU Circuit. She followed that up with a few more solid performances, and her world ranking soared to 35, earning her a spot on the 2001 US Elite National Team. She scored 2 important wins in 2002 at the San Diego International Triathlon and the Carlsbad Triathlon. Most recently, Jessi finished the 2003 San Diego International Triathlon a close second by only 31 seconds and had the fastest womens run split!
Currently Jessi is a member of the 2003 US Elite National Team. She is focusing on ITU World Cup circuit this season, but will also be seen at a number of non-drafting races in the US. Ultimately she is set on qualifying for the 2003 ITU World Championships. After that all focus will be on the US Olympic Trials in the spring of 2004.
