One of the hottest female names and bodies in beach volleyball is Leanne Schuster. Born in Mesa, Arizona as one of seven children, Leanne learned early on the thrill of a challenge. She often headed to the volleyball court with her brothers and sisters determined to slam them into the ground. Today, Leanne stand poised after a record setting 2000 season (ranking 7th nationwide) and is ready to spike her beach volleyball game to new heights.
As a teen, Leanne played with the Arizona Juniors Volleyball Club. She went on to join the Pac-10 Arizona State University team on a volleyball scholarship where she was named Team Captain and received numerous academic and athletic accolades. After graduating in 1994, Leanne decided to head to Southern California to play professional beach volleyball and began her career with the Women’s Professional Volleyball Association (WPVA). She rapidly established herself as a force, finishing her rookie season with two 2nd place wins and three 9th place finishes. By 2000, she was ranked 7th in the women’s Beach Volleyball association (BVA) and won the 2000 Beach Bash competition in Redondo Beach. She and her new partner, Nancy Mason, took the Bronze Medal at the Beach Bash competition in Hermosa Beach. Leanne now plays for the AVP, the largest beach volleyball league and is currently ranked 5th in the women’s division along with partner Mason. Back to Penta People Index |
