"Penta water has really helped my recovery time after workouts and between events. One day I’ll go on a hard 100-mile bike ride, and the next day I’ll feel great for a long, intense run. Prior to drinking Penta, I’d often feel tired and sore after this much training. I highly recommend Penta water for any serious triathlete."

Chris has always loved sports. He competed in diving and water polo throughout high school and water polo while attending California State University at Long Beach. In 1993 while still in college he was recruited to travel internationally for LA Models. The combination of his athletic physique and winning smile were the remarkable qualities sought by the fashion industry. After 3 intense modeling years, Chris desired to settle down so he returned to the U.S. to model and act in commercials domestically. A few years later he decided that he wanted to return to his love of sport and found that the triathlon was a natural for him, making use of his many years logged in the pool. He managed to find time to train while starting a new career as a mortgage loan officer. Chris entered and won the 25-29 amateur age division in this debut triathlon, a half-ironman distance event. In his next attempt, Chris placed third in a highly competitive Olympic distance event, qualifying him for the world’s most prestigious Ironman event, the Ironman Triathlon World Championships in Kona, HI.
All athletes in pursuit of their dreams face obstacles, and Chris was not exception. In 1998 Chris was involved in a car accident, crushing every major bone in his left foot. The entire 1999 triathlon season was spent in rehabilitation. But Chris’ winning attitude and complete recovery amazed his doctors. With the beginning of the millennium Chris again faced the challenges of juggling a career (now as a top performing senior loan officer) with the demands of training and competing in triathlons. His 2000 season saw a host of 1st and 2nd places and was capped off by qualifying for the Ironman World Champs, where he placed 8th in his division.
Chris moved up to the rank of Pro triathlete for the 2001 triathlon season. Under the guidance and coaching of 5-time Hawaiian Ironman Champion, Mark Allen, Chris finished 1st in Lake Millerton and the San Jose International Triathlons. He also finished 9th at Ironman Austria and 15th at Ironman California. In May 2002 despite being off for 6 weeks due to an ankle injury Chris placed 4th, just a few seconds behind 2nd at the Wildflower Half Ironman in Lake San Antonio.
Chris has a natural gift for endurance Ironman events, but his raw speed for the Olympic distances is untapped. He is committed to his dream of becoming the top triathlete in the world and a role model for future generation athletes. Penta water is proud to have Chris Lieto on its “Pentathlete” Team.
